Its 1992, Rob and I on my first ever backcountry trip. Since then, I have been travel obsessed and have tried to travel at every chance I get.  Yoho Park, BC (8/92).

It was my good old friends Jan and Rob who first recruited me for trips to the mountains. Since that time, I too have tried to bring others on my trips. I want to show them what a beautiful world it is outside of your house or office cubicle.  Overlooking the Des Poilus Glacier, Yoho National Park, BC (8/92).

The Wapta Icefield. Yoho National Park, BC (8/92).

The magnificent view from the summit of Mt Temple (3584m), the 3rd highest peak in Banff National Park, Alberta (7/96).

If I had just one sunny day in the Canadian Rocky mountains, I would summit Mt. Temple.  Its an 8-10 hour round-trip climb from the parking lot.  On a nice summer day, all you need is ice-axe and lots of energy.  Banff National Park, Alberta (8/96).

If you asked me what are the 3 most beautiful places in North America, I would say : Alaska, Canadian Rocky Mountains and Yellowstone/Grand Teton Parks.  Mt Assiniboine Park is one of my favourite spots.  BC (9/97).

Rob and I on the summit of Mt Tyrwhitt (2874m). The Kananaskis Valley is the best secret in the Canadian Rockies. It is just as pretty as Banff yet it is spared the tour buses and the tourist hoards.  Kananaskis Country, Alberta (9/98).

For an unbeatable mountain trip, just pack the car full of food and camping gear and head off to the Rockies. Tangle Ridge on the Icefields Parkway in Jasper National Park (9/02).

There are a lot of good hiking and backcountry options near my hometown of Vancouver, but its nothing compared to the Canadian Rocky Mountains.  View from the summit of Mt Edith, Banff National Park, Alberta  (7/95).

There is something really special about standing on the top of a mountain. It's an exhilarating feeling that's difficult to explain. I fully understand why people risk their lives to climb stuff like Everest although it is something I wouldn't even think of doing myself.  Mt Temple is one of the highest mountains in Banff National Park, Alberta (7/96).
