Kokanee Glacier Hut Trip – Feb 13 – 20th 2014.
Day 3&4 Day 5-7
Organized by Rob McLachlan, joined by Doug Brown, Jacquie Trudeau, Gareth Eeson,Grahame Quan, Lee Lau, Sharon Bader, Stuart Wyllie, Linda Harrison, Jim Meldrum, Megan Long, Geoff Falk, Glade Schoenfeld, Jennifer Schoenfeld.We also hired Mo’s Kitchen to cook for us, our cook was Michelle Heerschop who runs her own catering business.
Lee, Rob and I had been to Kokanee back in 2008 in April. We decided this year to come in February when we could get some epic Kootenay pow. Unfortunately with the prevalent Pineapples, pow was replaced by the deafening screach of sharp edges on ice. We did get to tour a lot and see a lot of potential terrain. Think we’ll be back.
NOTE – Bring a fitted sheet for the matresses next time, and an oversheet, pillow and comforter! Better then a sleeping bag.
For our first night in Nelson we stayed at the Dancing Bear Hostel. We ate dinner at the Hume Hotel, very good.

We met at Kootenay Valley Helicopters at the heliport at 8:00am, we were all in the hut by 10.

The ski gear is on the lower floor where we exit to go skiing out the back.
Our first warm up day we ski up John Carter via Commission Creek and ski back down to the hut which is at the end of the far lake. 1000m of climbing MAP

Day 2 – February 15th
With sunny skies the group decides to ski to Kokanee Glacier. We skin up Grizzly bowl climbers far left, up over to the Repeater and Keyhole entrance. Some go towards Kokanee Peak others do a run and head back home.
