Rockies Day 6 – Highline trail to Moraine Lake

Aug 9th – Day 6 of riding. Highline Trail to Moraine Lake and the valley of 10 peaks. A long drive from Calgary and Canmore keeps this trail in great shape! Often closed for Grizzlies this trail follows the road from Lake Louise to Moraine lakes. Its a great climb, cool traverse and FAST Descent. The trail starts at the Paradise Valley trail head and is ridden as an out and back to Moraine Lake. We rode back along the road for a ways and took a short connector trail back to the Highline trail for the RIPPEN’ descent back to the trail head.

There are many place to travel in the world. Really we should check them out sometime. For some reason the Canadian Rockies keep calling us back.

Wildhorse and Moose Mountain || Powerface Ridge || Elbow Loop || Jumping Pound Cox Hill || Highline || Razors Edge

We start the sweet climb up!

Lee getting artsy

We turn the corner and the views appear.

The flowers were more abundant here too

Pivot at Moraine Lake

After hanging out at the lake for a bit we took the road part way back to avoid some climbing on the trail on the return trip.

We took a short connector trail back to the descent.

Then we headed into Lake Louise to check out the Victoria Glacier and have a beer.

Campfire at Bow River Campsite. VERY noisy spot here… if you camp at this camp area take a site further from the highway.

Map of the Highline trail and area. Check for Grizzly closures.
