Santa Fe invades Whistler and Blackcomb

|| Day 1 Feb 10 || Day 3 Feb 12 ||

Our friends from Santa Fe decided to make another pilgrimage to our home mountain hoping that their snow exploits from the year before during HOLY JANUARY could be duplicated. Sadly we’ve been going through a dry spell and couldn’t greet the first New Mexican to arrive with much snow. Still we did get 5 cms for Bill Carey’s first day, which we spent in Whistler.

Warm temps = chunky powder in Harmony but at least its pow

The elegance and simplicity of telemark – Bill tries to get Emma’s 7tms back in after they release

While waiting, and waiting for the telemark release explosion to be over, I had a chance to take pictures of the various wildlife that the new Symphony Chair has attracted.

Symphony does open up lower Flute bowl where Bill finds boot-top pow.

Peak hid some nice powder even later in the day.

Feb 12th – Blackcomb

While the rest of the gang headed off to Whistler, I took Carl and Bill out to Blackcomb to hunt for pow. 15cms had fallen in the past 24 hours with 5 to 8 overnight. The new snow had fallen with moderate winds so we hunted and found between 15 to 25 cms in windloaded aspects. Corona Bowl, Husume and Bodybag Bowls skied particularly well as did above tree-line in the Blackcomb Glacier.
