Switzerland Vacation Day 7 Alp Sanaspans and Piz Scalottas

After riding North and East it was time to ride West and South. To the South is Sanaspans, a nice valley bordered by majestic peaks including the 2900m Lenzerhorn. West of us is the opposite side of the Lenzerheide valley where even more lift access riding and hiking occurs – up the Tgantieni and Piz Scalotta lifts. We only managed one ride on this side of Lenzerheide.

We again ride from the Kurhaus to head up the Rothorn Gondola before starting our first 1400m descent of the day.

More Rothorn rocky descending

Bryce is ready to go

We start down the valley towards Alp Sanaspans

The riding in the Swiss Alpine here is pretty technical!

Interspersed with some buffness and majestic views

We head down the well marked trail Alp Sanaspans

Along the valley we go

At this time the little piece of metal in my Avid brake level decided to eject. Fortunately it was easily replaced with a zap strap leaving me with rather weaker brakes for the rest of the day!

We come across this hunter who bagged himself a goat.

At 2050m we’re at another Chalet! The Alp Sanaspans.

Ah, much needed beverage!

Our elevation descent for the morning.

In the afternoon we head up the Tgantieni and Piz Scalottas chairs for another descent. These chairs have a more manual bike carry system.

At the top of the Piz Scalottas you can see Flims and the cool geology of that area.

Then we go down. Lee and Bryce.

Oh another swiss farmhouse at 1886m in the middle of a cow field
