Trek Remedy 2014 dumpster bike build

Wow this is an ugly bike. But beggars can’t be choosers
Rattle can black and it looks semi-respectable

The build

A bit of work, a bit of time, a lot of dumpster-diving, a bunch of accumulating spare parts in bins & inspiration from cheapskates the world over. Spare parts from FB Marketplace, Pinkbike, Craigslist and Ebay.

Thanks to Obsession, BicycleHub, Shar, Jude and everyone else who helped me live the life and accumulate the stuff I deserve to become accustomed!

Total investment – $ 279

Matt came to help. Fortunately I have lots of hammers. The main pivot was ovalized. I wrapped the pivot hardware in bits of old copper plumbing and bashed it back into the frame

First test ride down some steeps on Fromme. Forgot to put spacers on the Turbine cranks so those came loose
12th ride down McKenzie Cruise in Pemberton. Kinks are ironed out. Bodged together chain hasn’t snapped
Sick 1000m enduro to the Pemberton valley. I jammed a boost rear wheel into the non-boost frame persuading it to go in there with some mallets and then spacing out the brake with some nifty spare parts Magura caliper spacers. So far the rear-end of this dumpster frame has not exploded!
